Pentagon
Funding for War = $8,000 per Second
| Actually, it's much greater
than that, since the numbers have increased
since these data were computed. Still,
the Pentagon's funding for war preparation
is greater than $310 billion dollars.
To break that down into manageable sums,
that's about $700 million a day, or $8,000
per second! If students work a summer
job and earn $4,000,they have earned
one-fourth of one second of the U.S.
military budget. (Source: I'd

U.S. Spends more $ to
Harm than to Help
| Knowing what the U.S spends
on its military is meaningless without
knowledge on what we spend for humanitarian
causes. After all, a military budget
of $300 billion may not be so bad if we
spend twice that on foreign aid.
Unfortunately, the U.S. spends approximately
$14 billion a year to help the world,
compared to $300 billion to bomb it.
Thus, the average taxpayer pays $1,600 for
war but only $52 for aid. (Source: I'd
